VFP and API-PA
Voter Formation Project is bringing communities often left out of the voting process into the electorate. They are a digital-first, Black woman-led organization, dedicated to reaching underrepresented voters where they can be found — online. Voter Formation Project, uses innovative, long-term, and data-driven digital communications strategies to engage, register, and mobilize new and infrequent voters of color to increase participation in local, state, and national elections.
The Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance’s (API PA) mission is to build long-term power for APIs in Pennsylvania, by coordinating political, electoral, and legislative work to hold our elected officials accountable, engaging in culturally competent and linguistically accessible direct voter contact with our communities, and building solidarity with other aligned communities of color across the state.
Citizens granted $25,000 to each organization in November 2023.

BLOC Wisconsin
BLOC’s mission is to invest in their community and engage citizens to build long-term political power. Through coordinated political action they want to ensure a high quality of life and access to economic opportunity for members of the Black community in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. Granted $30,000 in March 2022, $12,500 in November 2022 and $20,000 in March 2023.

Progressive Leadership Alliance Nevada
PLAN builds power with their community through strategic organizing and policy advocacy. Since 1994 they’ve brought together nearly 30 organizations into one cohesive force to build a strong and fair Nevada that puts people and planet first. Granted $25,000 in Summer 2022 and $12,500 in November 2022.

ACLU Nevada
The ACLU Nevada chapter is working to protect voting rights in Nevada. The grant from Citizens helped retain a dedicated voting rights attorney and support the defeat of voter suppression proposals throughout the state. Granted $25,000 in Summer 2022.

LIT Wisconsin
Leaders Igniting Transformation are building political power that is controlled by young people of color. Through advocacy, organizing and leadership training LIT is transforming Wisconsin. The future is young, black, brown, and LIT. Granted $15,000 in March 2022.

All Voting Is Local
The right to vote is the heart of our democracy. Right now, that sacred right is under attack. We are coming together — across race, zip code, and background — to demand that every eligible American has the freedom to vote. All Voting is Local launched in 2018 with a vision to build a democracy that works for us ALL. We fight to dismantle barriers to the ballot well before the next election, so that every voter can cast a ballot that counts. Granted $25,000 in May 2021.

Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
The principal mission of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is to secure equal justice for all through the rule of law, targeting in particular the inequities confronting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities. The Lawyers’ Committee is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, formed in 1963 at the request of President John F. Kennedy. Granted $20,000 in April, 2021.

Florida Immigrant Coalition
The Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC) is a statewide coalition of more than 65 member organizations and over 100 allies, founded in 1998 and formally incorporated in 2004. They are led by their membership, including grassroots and community organizations, farmworkers, youth, advocates, lawyers, union members, and more working together for the fair treatment of all people, including immigrants. Granted $45,000 in August, 2020

One Arizona
Leading up to the presidential election in the fall of 2020, Citizens directed funds to organizations working in critical swing states. One Arizona includes 28 organizations representing diverse communities across the state, working side by side to build a culture of civic engagement and democratic participation, and registering over half a million voters, and counting. Granted $45,000 in August, 2020

Black Voters Matter
We donated to BVM’s Capacity Building Institute whose goal is to increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities through get out the vote and voter registration efforts in southern states; and to counter the suppression efforts currently underway. Granted $25,000 in May, 2020

New Florida Majority
The New Florida Majority is an independent political organization working to increase the voting and political power of marginalized and excluded constituencies toward an inclusive, equitable, and just Florida. Granted $25,000 in March, 2020.

New Virginia Majority
We gave to the New Virginia Majority Education Fund to support their audacious goal of building a bloc of conscious, consistent voters to advance a new politics that is democratic, sustainable and just. Their policy agenda centers on working class people of color in Virginia as the drivers of a bold new agenda for all. Granted $12,000 in September, 2019.

MOVE Texas Civic Fund
MOVE is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, grassroots organization building power in underrepresented youth communities through civic education, leadership development, and issue advocacy. They are working hard to build a great future and empower great new leaders. Granted $12,000 in August, 2019.

National Democratic Redistricting Committee
The Citizens grant to the National Redistricting Foundation (NRF) supported their mission to dismantle unfair electoral maps and create a redistricting system based on democratic values in advance of the 2021 redistricting cycle. By helping to create more just and representative electoral districts across the country, they also hope to restore the public’s faith in a true representative democracy. Granted $12,000 in June, 2019.

Texas Youth Power Alliance
Texas Youth Power Alliance (TYPA) was founded in 2018 with the purpose of harnessing the full power of young people to transform the state of Texas. TYPA is a collective of state-based, homegrown organizations that are committed to working locally to equip young people with the support, training and resources necessary to become bold, progressive and transformative leaders in Texas. Granted $12,000 in March, 2019.

Turbo Vote
TurboVote is an online voting tool that makes voting easy. It keeps track of voter registration, absentee, and vote-by-mail rules for all 50 states. Granted $2,500 in October, 2018.

Texas Civil Rights Project
TCRP are Texas lawyers and advocates for Texas communities, boldly serving the movement for equality and justice in and out of the courts. They envision a Texas where all communities thrive with dignity and justice, and without fear. TCRP believes that legal advocacy and litigation are critical tools to protect and advance the civil rights of everyone in Texas, particularly the State’s most vulnerable populations, and to effect positive and lasting change to law and policy. Granted $2,500 in July, 2018.

Voter Participation Center
The Voter Participation Center (VPC) in a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 2003 to help members of the Rising American Electorate register and vote. Since then, the organization has helped more than 4.6 million people register and cast ballots. Granted $2,500 in July, 2018.

UltraViolet Education Fund
UltraViolet is a national advocacy organization that drives feminist cultural and political change. Through people power and strategic advocacy, they work to improve the lives of women of all identities and backgrounds by disrupting patriarchy and creating a cost for sexism. Granted $2,500 in May, 2018.

United We Dream
United We Dream is the largest immigrant youth-led community in the country. They create welcoming spaces for young people – regardless of immigration status – to support, engage, and empower them to make their voice heard, develop their leadership, their organizing skills, and to develop campaigns to fight for justice and dignity for immigrants and all people. Granted $2,500 in February, 2018.
