About Us

Citizens for the Vote (Citizens) is a funding circle consisting of SF Bay Area families who initially gathered in response to the 2016 Presidential election. Our initial shock turned to anger, then determination, as we watched our worst fears play out. The Trump administration made a mockery of our democratic institutions and values: inclusion, patriotism, truth and respect, while aggressively eroding our international standing.

We were thrilled to support amazing groups like Black Voters Matter and One Arizona who helped secure a win for the Biden-Harris administration. However, our work is not done as we continue to see assaults on democracy at the federal, state and local level.

We pool our money and time to counter those assaults on democracy through policy, litigation, advocacy and education on all issues of voting rights and access. Contributions range from $1,000 to $10,000, with the typical contributing averaging $5,000. All contributions are made into a donor advised fund at the East Bay Community Foundation, which distributes our aggregated funds to the chosen organization at a very low administrative cost (less than 1%). Donations are tax-deductible.
